Everything you need to know about working with Milhouse Woodworks, from the first call to the final walkthrough.

The Remodeling Process

We schedule an in-home visit at your convenience, usually within three to five business days of your call or form submission. We walk your space, take measurements, discuss your goals, budget, and style preferences, and show you material samples. Within 48 to 72 hours you receive a 3D rendering of the proposed design and a detailed, itemized quote. No obligation until you sign.

A full kitchen remodel from demolition through the final punch list typically takes four to eight weeks depending on scope. Kitchens requiring custom cabinetry (built in our shop) are on the longer end. We give you a binding completion date at contract signing and update you every week throughout the project.

We handle everything in-house: design, demo, custom cabinetry, countertop fabrication and install, tile, and finish carpentry. For rough plumbing and electrical we work with a small network of licensed tradespeople we trust and coordinate on your behalf. You have one point of contact with us for the entire project.

Most of our clients stay in their homes during kitchen remodels. We set up a temporary kitchen area when possible, seal off work areas to contain dust, and leave your home clean at the end of each work day. For very large projects spanning multiple areas, we can discuss logistics during your consultation.

We pull all required permits for every project. In Los Angeles County, kitchen remodels that involve moving walls, plumbing, or electrical require building permits. We manage the permit process from application through final inspection. Permit fees are itemized in your quote so there are no surprises.

Custom Cabinetry

Every cabinet we install is built in our Los Angeles shop to your exact dimensions rather than ordered from a semi custom or stock catalog. This means we can accommodate any ceiling height, unusual wall angle, or special feature (appliance garage, pull-out pantry, built-in wine rack) without compromise.

We work with white oak, maple, walnut, cherry, alder, and painted MDF for a smooth finish. Door styles include shaker, slab, raised panel, beadboard, and custom profiles. We can match an existing door style if you are adding to existing cabinetry.

All our cabinetry includes Blum full-extension soft-close drawer slides and Blum soft-close hinges as standard. For visible hardware such as pulls, knobs, and cup handles, we work from your selection or guide you through options from our preferred suppliers.

Yes. If the cabinet boxes are structurally sound, refacing or refinishing is a cost-effective option. We replace or reface door fronts, replace drawer fronts, install new hardware, and refinish the visible surfaces to look brand new. We assess your existing cabinets during the consultation and give you a straight recommendation.

Countertops & Materials

We source and install quartz, quartzite, marble, granite, porcelain slab, butcher block, and concrete. We template, fabricate (or coordinate fabrication for natural stone), and install. Material pricing varies widely, so we review options at every budget point during your consultation.

Quartz is engineered, non porous, and requires no sealing, making it ideal for busy family kitchens. Natural stone (quartzite, marble) has unique veining that cannot be replicated and is preferred for a luxury look, but requires periodic sealing and more careful maintenance. We discuss pros and cons for your specific household and help you decide.

Pricing & Financing

A kitchen remodel with our custom cabinetry, countertops, tile, and installation typically ranges from $35,000 to more than $90,000 depending on kitchen size, material selections, and complexity. Smaller refresh projects such as cabinet refacing, new countertops, or a hardware swap can be completed for $12,000 to $25,000. We provide a detailed itemized quote for every project so you know exactly where every dollar goes.

Yes. We offer 0% APR financing for qualifying projects through our lending partners. Financing is available for full kitchen remodels, bath remodels, and cabinet builds. Ask about current financing terms when you receive your quote. We can often structure payments that make a full remodel accessible without a large upfront cash outlay.

We require a 30% deposit at contract signing to reserve your build slot and begin material procurement. A second payment of 40% is due when cabinetry is complete and ready for installation. The final 30% is due at project completion and your signed walkthrough approval. We never ask for 100% upfront.

Warranty & Service

All labor and installation is covered by our 2-year workmanship warranty. Custom cabinetry carries a lifetime structural warranty. If a joint fails or a cabinet box delaminates under normal use, we fix it. Cabinet hardware is covered by the manufacturer warranty (typically one to five years). We stand behind our work fully.

Call us. We do a 30-day and 90-day follow-up on every project, but if you notice something before then, we respond within two business days and schedule a repair promptly. Our reputation in the Valley is everything to us, and we do not disappear after the final payment.
